Frequently Asked Questions Dispensers with WIFI

Q: How does the dispenser connect?
A: The dispenser is connected to the local WiFi and must be within range of the WiFi. Please note that the dispenser only allows connection to a 2.4 GHZ WiFi.

Q: What do we need the DoseControl WiFi app for?
A: The app is installed on the carer's smartphone and is used to control and monitor the dispenser. The app can be used to set or monitor the dispenser remotely (the carer does not have to be present with the person in need of care).

Q: What technical requirements must the smartphone meet?
A: Every cell phone must run on Android (version 7.0 and higher), cell phones with iOS (Apple) are currently NOT YET supported.

Q: How is data transferred between the dispenser and the app?
A: The dispenser is connected to DoseControl's own secure data center located in Germany via WiFi. The app accesses the data in this data center and displays it in the app.

Q: How is the dispenser operated?
A: The dispenser is powered by a USB-C charger as the primary power source. The included batteries are ONLY used as a backup in case the power runs out. The batteries are NOT rechargeable.

Q: I'm having problems with the WiFi connection, what could be the reason?
A: Please check whether the dispenser is within range of the WiFi, the WiFi connection is established at 2.4 GHz, the dispenser is powered by a charger or alkaline batteries with sufficient capacity.

Q: Does the pill dispenser work with multiple WiFi networks?
A: No, the dispenser is only ever synchronized and connected to one WiFi network. To use a different WiFi network, the dispenser must be resynchronized.

Q: How can I completely reset the dispenser settings?
A: Press the Alarms and Clock buttons for 5 seconds to delete the settings.

Q: How can I download the app?
A: Search the Google Play Store for "DoseControl" WiFi app with the BLUE icon. Download and install the app, then follow the app's instructions.

Q: What notifications can I set?
A: In the app you can set e-mail or push notifications, in which case they should be sent: taken and/or missed dose, low tablet supply, empty batteries or connection status of the dispenser.

Q: How does sending notifications work?
A: When the set case occurs, the app sends a notification by email to any phone, notebook or PC (e.g. from a family member, caregiver, doctor, etc.) or a push noitification on the phone with installed app

Q: What is Premium Service?
A: The Premium Service includes sending email, push notifications and storing/displaying historical data on medication intake in a secure data center.

Q: How much does Premium Service cost?
A: The Premium Service is offered free of charge for 2 months for each new donor. After 2 months, the monthly subscription costs EUR 9.90 VAT included. The subscription can be canceled at any time without commitment. Please check regularly our app for promotion campaigns, in which you can get a subscription discount.

Q: How do I pay for the premium service?
A: You can conveniently activate the premium service directly in the app and then pay using Google Pay.

Q: Can the dispenser be used without the premium service?
A: Yes, the dispenser can also be used without the premium service, but without notifications and a historical overview of medication intake.
